Resume Editing Services

What is the Editing and Design Process?

The Federal Resume is written to meet the Office of Personnel Management's qualification standards. There is a difference as to how the Federal resume is written, designed, and edited. In Kathryn Troutman's book "The Job Seeker's Guide, Ten Steps to a Federal Job" she conveys the difference between Federal and private industry resumes. The federal resume is longer than 3 pages and may be up to 7 or more pages. The best layout for online applications is the "Electronic Format." We recommend writing two versions when applying for Federal jobs . one in MS Word with eye appeal (bolding, italics, spacing, bullets), and one in the Electronic Format.

The Federal Resume must provide detail to match the announcement. Career Ladders will strategize, evaluate, and extract keywords from the announcement as well as several other similar series, groups or families of jobs. We recommend researching the ONET which is great resource for key words at http://online.onetcenter.org.

Military to Civilian Resume

Since 2002, Career Ladders has written over 1000 resumes for military/veterans in transition from the Army, Navy, Marine Corp, Coast Guard, and National Guard. When writing resumes for veterans, we request that military documentation such as (performance evaluations, DD214, awards) be provided to extract detail relevant to the position. Career Ladders will effectively transition the military jargon to civilian language.

A great resource for transitioning the language is found through the use of the ONET's (Crosswalk feature) http://online.onetcenter.org. Career Ladders understands how our veterans and disabled veterans qualify for specific jobs. With the 5 to 10 point veteran's preference a veteran receives additional points added to the final rating of their application. There are specific jobs available which may be found at the USAJobs.opm.gov website. Remember to check the yes button at the bottom of the first page to locate specific "Hiring Authorities" and positions (VRA, VEOA, and Veterans Preference). Veterans / Disabled veterans qualify for Federal jobs.

Career Ladders' staff of Certified Federal Resume Writers will meet critical demands and deadlines. Quality time is spent to communicate with each individual in order to effectively write the resume with detail, accomplishments, and core competencies.
