Work involves planning, implementation, operation, and/or maintenance of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Prepares technical reports, and supporting media such as diagrams, and graphs, and scientific tables and charts in support of forestry programs activities. Coordinates the development of resource database, including design, data collection, and resource database implementation. Coordinates, organizes, and manages all data associated with the Geographic Information System (GIS) and corporate applications.
Plans and/or accomplishes special projects. Provides geospatial and attribute data product and analytical support to customers and also assists and trains employees in their use and creation of geospatial products. Assists in project planning, developing timelines and milestones, data analysis assessments, estimate of resources required to be able to accomplish geospatial projects.
Performs cartographic design and production tasks using computers, advanced specialty software, techniques associated with the Geographic Information System (GIS) and the Global Positioning System (GPS), and advances in remote sensing. Responsible for the organization, maintenance, and consistency of data for geospatial layers and attributes. Uses the full range of digital data collection techniques and performs scanning, digitizing and other support functions as needed to identify changes to ensure a correct and complete geospatial and tabular database. Resolves errors and ensures accuracy of data.
