The primary goal of this position is to advance the quality and access of mental health-related Intensive Case Management program services for Veterans throughout the system. Under the direction of the National Mental Health Director for Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Services and OMHS, responsibilities include developing guidance to the field for the delivery of those services and monitoring the effectiveness of those services. The incumbent promulgates evidence-based and emerging best practices in the area of assertive community treatment for Veterans with serious mental illness and ensures fidelity to VHA policy and other appropriate national standards. In keeping with VHA’s focus on Veteran-centric, recovery-oriented care, the incumbent recommends modifications to VHA policy in a manner that advances that philosophy. |

- In collaboration with the Director of Inpatient and Outpatient Recovery Services and the National Mental Health Director for PSR&R services, the incumbent provides technical assistance and support to all existing mental health-related ICM programs within VHA and consultation to facilities developing ICM programs. The incumbent works with the VHA program evaluation center that is responsible for ICM data collection and monitoring (NEPEC), other VHA offices and programs, and relevant community organizations and agencies.
- WORK SCHEDULE: Part-Time, Twenty (20) Hours per week.
- SALARY RANGE: Salary will be recommended by a Professional Standards Board and will conform to the locality pay in effect at the host facility for the individual selected.

- QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- U.S. citizenship.
- ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY:
- In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), No person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. You must be proficient in basic written and spoken English in order to meet the requirements of this position. The English Language proficiency statement appears on the Assessment Questionnaire.
- EDUCATION:
- Hold a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from a program approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) or have graduated from a nationally accredited program conferring a comparable mental health degree as specified in the qualification standards of those disciplines (Social Work, Psychiatric Nursing, Psychology, and Psychiatry). All additional course work taken to be accepted for MFT licensure must come from a nationally accredited program in one of the above areas.
- LICENSURE:
- Must hold full, current, and unrestricted license to independently practice marriage and family therapy in a State.
- CREDITABLE EXPERIENCE:
- Experience must have required the use of knowledge, skills, and abilities associated with current professional marriage and family therapy practice. The experience must be post-master’s degree or above. Experience satisfying this requirement must be active professional practice, which is paid/non-paid employment as a professional MFT, as defined by the appropriate state licensing board.

- *Knowledge of, and ability to effectively communicate, existing policies and regulations, specifically about VA’s intensive case management programs.

- *Ability to influence high level officials in adoption of, and conformance to, performance measures, monitors, and other policy guidelines.
- Knowledge of, and ability to utilize, resource materials and to develop new materials when needed, including training materials for intensive case management teams.
